A monthly view of your pay

Salaries are agreed per year but spent per month. This page focuses on the monthly breakdown table that sits under the result: every line of your pay, from basic to special allowance, and every deduction, shown per month and per year side by side.

Using the monthly period toggle

Pick Monthly under Period if you know your monthly CTC or gross salary. The calculator multiplies by 12 to find yearly income, which is what tax is based on, then divides the result by 12 again for the monthly figures.

Monthly figures for ₹18 lakh CTC

With default settings, a ₹18 lakh CTC means a monthly gross of ₹1,45,314. After employee PF of ₹1,800 and professional tax of ₹208 a month, income tax of ₹11,592 a month under the new regime leaves a monthly in-hand salary of ₹1,31,714. Under the old regime with no deductions, income tax is ₹27,161 a month, leaving ₹1,16,144.

Why your actual month can differ

  • Variable pay and bonuses are paid on a schedule, but the calculator averages them.
  • Employers may deduct tax unevenly, with higher TDS late in the year.
  • Professional tax is often higher in one month (in Maharashtra, February) so the yearly cap is met.
  • Reimbursements, meal cards and insurance can sit inside or outside your gross.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter my monthly salary instead of yearly?

Yes. Choose Monthly in the Period toggle and enter your monthly CTC or gross. The calculator multiplies by 12 internally.

Why is my monthly in-hand the same every month?

The calculator spreads yearly income tax and variable pay evenly over 12 months. In reality, tax deducted may be higher or lower in some months, and bonuses arrive as lump sums.

Why does my payslip tax change from month to month?

Employers estimate tax for the whole year and update it when you submit investment proofs, receive a bonus or change regime. Total yearly tax should still match.

How do I copy the monthly table?

Use the Copy table button under the breakdown. It copies tab-separated rows that paste straight into a spreadsheet.
